World’s First Standard: HB TempCon Contributes to Drone‑based Specimen Packaging Standard Release

2026-09-24     13

Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has issued two civil aviation industry standards covering the transportation of human biological specimens via civil unmanned aircraft: MH/T 1087‑2026 Requirements for Packaging of Cargo Transport by Civil Unmanned Aircraft — Human Biological Specimens and MH/T 1088‑2026 Service Guidelines for Human Biological Specimen Transport by Civil Unmanned Aircraft. Qingdao HB TempCon Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Haier Biomedical, took part in the formulation as one of the drafting organizations.

Notably, MH/T 1087‑2026 is the world’s first standard dedicated to packaging requirements for human biological specimens transported by drones. The two standards lay down specifications respectively for transport packaging and service workflows, filling the gap in standards for drone‑delivered biological specimen transportation. They deliver technical and procedural foundations for the safe, compliant and large‑scale development of low‑altitude medical logistics.

MH/T 1087‑2026 centers on packaging safety. It defines technical packaging specifications, test methods and performance benchmarks for drone‑carried biological specimens, including critical criteria for vibration resistance, drop impact and high‑altitude fall, ensuring the integrity and safety of biological specimens throughout transit.

MH/T 1088‑2026 focuses on transport services. It establishes standardized procedures covering collection and delivery, cargo handling, flight operation and emergency response, forming a full‑set operational framework for the entire transportation lifecycle.

One standard defines “how to package safely”, while the other governs “how to operate compliantly”. Together they further refine the regulatory framework for drone‑borne biological specimen logistics and underpin large‑scale adoption of low‑altitude medical logistics. Demanding high timeliness and strict safety protocols for special consignments, medical logistics represents a key application scenario within the low‑altitude economy. Beyond aircraft hardware, the maturity of supporting packaging solutions, safety controls, airworthiness rules and operational systems is critical to moving these use‑cases from pilot trials toward full‑scale commercial roll‑out.

Participation in drafting the two civil aviation industry standards marks another practical milestone for HB TempCon in low‑altitude medical logistics. Going forward, the company will advance businesses catering to low‑altitude transportation needs for high‑value goods such as biological specimens and pharmaceuticals. It will also keep expanding its portfolio of full‑category, full‑temperature‑range air‑transport thermal containers and broaden its footprint in civil aviation equipment solutions.
